FAB ONE Entered in Master Builders House of the Year 2021 Competition

We are excited to have entered FAB ONE into the Registered Master Builders House of the Year competition for 2021.

The largest module of the FAB series, designed by Bonnifait + Giesen Architects, FAB ONE is an 89m2, two-storey home built on an elevated site overlooking Gisborne city. Our team utilised innovative construction methods to build the first FAB ONE in New Zealand. The house was pre-fabricated in two 45m2 sections at our local workshop before being transported to the site and lifted into place by a crane. Once assembled on-site, our team continued work cladding the exterior of the house in timber weatherboards and completed the interior finishings.

We are very proud of FAB ONE – which showcases the attention to detail and craftsmanship of the entire design, project and construction team – and are looking forward to having the competition judges visit FAB ONE in the coming weeks.

About the House of the Year Awards

The Registered Master Builders House of the Year awards celebrate the very best in residential building. The competition, judged by a team of experts who visit each home at least once, is divided into two parts. The first is at a regional level, with more than 360 properties taking part in 2020. They are awarded a range of quality marks and the Regional Supreme Winners (for both new builds and renovations) are announced at events around the country from July onwards.

From those entries, up to 100 properties will reach Top 100 status and go through to a second round of judging for the national competition. In November the National House of the Year Awards take place, and the National Supreme winners and House of the Year are announced.
