DStevens is proud to announce the successful completion of the seismic upgrade and renovation of Te Hīnātore, the hall building at Lytton High School. This significant project marks another milestone in our enduring partnership with the school, which has seen us undertake numerous projects over the past 25 years.

The comprehensive renovation of Te Hīnātore involved a series of critical upgrades to ensure the hall meets modern building code standards. Key improvements included the installation of new structural bracing to enhance the building's earthquake resilience. Additionally, the exterior was completely reclad with new weatherboards, providing a fresh and durable finish that complements the school's aesthetic.

New windows and doors were installed to improve the energy efficiency and thermal performance of the building. The full interior refurbishment features a vibrant and colourful design by Architects 44, brought to life with beautiful mahi toi (artwork) by artist Simon Lardelli. These enhancements have transformed the hall into a multifunctional space that will serve both the school and the wider community for many years to come.

DStevens Managing Director, Peter Stevens, expressed his gratitude for the collaborative effort that made this project a success. "We are extremely proud to have worked with Lytton High School over the last 25 years and thank them for trusting DStevens to deliver their refurbished hall building at the heart of the school. Working in an operational school environment can be challenging, but the collaborative efforts of the site team, consultants, and subcontractors ensured we delivered a high-quality result as planned. This project showcases the importance of teamwork and our shared commitment to creating an inspiring space for students and the community."

By upgrading and reusing an existing building, we have minimised the environmental impact typically associated with new construction. This approach not only preserves the original structure but also aligns with our commitment to sustainability and responsible building practices.

The newly renovated hall is now a modern, versatile space designed to accommodate a wide range of activities and events. From school assemblies and performances to community gatherings and functions, Te Hīnātore is equipped to meet diverse needs while providing an uplifting and comfortable environment.

The successful completion of this project reinforces our long-standing relationship with Lytton High School. Over the past quarter-century, we have had the privilege of contributing to the school's growth and development through various construction projects. We look forward to continuing this partnership and supporting the school in its future endeavours.
