Team

After the huge year we have all had, I always like to take some time to reflect on our collective achievements. 2017 has brought many successes and challenges to DStevens and I want to take the time to thank you for your hard work delivering outstanding high-quality projects that I know our customers love and enjoy.

Our projects are one of the most important ways we communicate with our customers, and our attention to detail and quality differentiates DStevens from every other construction company in Gisborne. Earlier in the year, our commercial team completed Class* Furniture’s new office and warehouse building on Kahutia Street. Not only did the construction of this building demonstrate the capability of our people – it is also a testament to the success our collaborative and inclusive approach to construction, joinery and interiors brings to the projects we undertake. This same approach towards our work can be seen in the numerous residential projects we completed this year such as the Russell Street House and Stout Street House, and also in the innovative education environments that we have built across Gisborne. I am really impressed with the staged delivery of Lytton High School’s new Technology Block. For all the challenges we have had with the complexity in delivering this project we are tracking 3 months ahead of schedule for completion in early 2018. Similarly, the wet weather and a tight timeframe at Kaiti School’s new classrooms were skillfully overcome by our education team delivering a fantastic learning environment for the students of Kaiti School.

Our recent SiteWise Green accreditation is proof that we’re performing to the highest health and safety standards in the industry. In our first ever attempt at being safety accredited we have achieved a score of 82 out of a total of 100, exceeding the Green baseline of 75 points. Every year we strengthen our standards and processes in a continuing effort to raise the bar and I am extremely proud to say we are the only construction company in Gisborne to have reached this level in Health and Safety endorsement.

The changes we are making to our Childers Road Showroom share our new vision for engaging with our customers through a flexible and innovative environment that puts their ideas front and centre. We can’t wait to welcome our customers into the completed space in early 2018 and give them a chance to see just how great their next project can be.

Finally, it is an honour to stand alongside you as we work to create engaging and exciting environments through Construction, Joinery and Interiors. I consider myself the luckiest person in the world for the opportunity to work at this amazing company with you all. I hope you will take this holiday season to rest, reflect and recharge with your family and friends. We have a very exciting pipeline of work lined up for 2018 that I hope will provide a welcomed challenge for us.

Happy holidays,

Pete
